Gaza rocket hits Israel, military says

Palestinian militants in the Gaza Strip fired a rocket into southern Israel's largely rural Eshkol region on Friday but there were no reports of casualties or damage, the military said.

On Tuesday the Iron Dome air defense system brought down a rocket fired towards the southern Israeli city of Ashkelon.

The border between Gaza and Israel remains tense, with occasional flare-ups since June when Palestinians fired dozens of rockets into the Jewish state, which responded with multiple air raids that killed 15 Palestinians.
